The science of heartbreak (with Columbus Batiste, MD)
Cardiologist Columbus Batiste explains love’s impact on both the heart and the brain, and what the medical term for heartbreak has to do with octopi, on the ‘Your Brain On...’ podcast.
In ‘Your Brain On... Love’, we discuss:
• Why falling in love can feel so stressful
• How being infatuated activates the same neurotransmitters as having OCD
• What happens to your brain when exciting new romances settle into comfortable decades-long unions
‘Your Brain On’ is hosted by neuroscientists and public health advocates Ayesha and Dean Sherzai.
‘Your Brain On... Love’ is Episode 1 of Season 1.

It seems to me that you are not familiar with what "evidence-based medicine" means. This is a label that is applied to a way of justifying diagnosis and treatment algorithms, health protocols and public health policies. “Evidence-based medicine” is not the same as science-based medicine. So, the person you are talking about is not saying that he does not believe in science, but rather he is talking about a philosophy of medicine that has become hegemonic in recent years.

Bioidentical hormones are not part of the Womens Health Initiative which used Premarin. That study was decades ago. It was written about in the New York Times. Google it. Hormones are natural. They dissipate as we age. Bioidentical hormones are identical to our hormones. Educate yourselves because doctors still cling to the Women's health initiative to this day. The opposite is true for the suggestion that hormones are harmful to the folks in menopause. They are natural and protect you from age related diseases. Find a doctor that keeps up with reality and isn't stuck in the past where they still thought females had no Testosterone at all in their bodies! A young female has more of this hormone than Estrogen. The units of measurement are not the same.

Have a question how do I find a specialist in my area that can development a treatment plan? I was in a t-bone car accident with a direct impact in the driver door going 55MPH in Nov 2021, I continue to suffer every day and I do not have anyone assessing me ongoing, I attempted to get a referral to a concussion clinic in my medical system this year however I was automatically declined because by injury was greater than 2 years ago. I do have a diffuse axonal injury but had to to be referred outside of my medical system to a MRI w/DTI

Nobody here seems to be talking about protecting the glycocalx in order to keep the lining of the blood vessels intact, less inflamed and less likely to be damaged and start building up plaque (which happens as a response to an already damaged lining). This and DHA/EPA levels, as well as omega 6:3 seem to be much more important for good health than 'high cholesterol'.

It's all absolute nonsense. Patient outcomes continue to decline as the collapse in public health becomes more generalized. We are being enslaved by way of iatrogenic genocide, this due to the prevalence of oligarchical Satanism as the founding influence of medical science per the history that we all know yet apparently choose to ignore. You do not know what you are doing, and this is by design. An urgent need to re-examine the work of Dr. Andrew Moulden R.I.P. should be instituted. His thesis regarded vascular occlusion by way of covert hyper-coagulation has been ignored much to our collective detriment. As to treatements, you all would do well to ask me for insights. But you won't, and why? Because you fancy that professionalism is the unique pathway to expertise, this per a pattern of chauvinism that is irrational and hostile to the interests of all parties...save of course for that relating to the oligarchy itself.

Stop listening to people like this and think for a second…people have eaten low cholesterol diets and taken statin drugs for like 50 years now. In the Western world, cholesterol levels and intake are lower than at any point in human history. That’s good according to the experts, right? Ok, so if cholesterol levels are lower than ever, people should be healthier than ever, right? Well, the exact opposite happens to be the case. People are less healthy than ever. Obesity is higher than ever. Diabetes is higher than ever. Alzheimer’s is one of the leading causes of death today, and was almost unheard of until the 1980s. The modern thinking on cholesterol, as well as the idea that meat, butter, eggs, and other animal products are harmful, began in the 1970s. Almost everyone in America has followed these guidelines to varying degrees for approximately 50 years, and the results have been absolutely horrendous. Literally every single health crisis we see today, be it diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, obesity, or cancer, all began to skyrocket right around the time these modern guidelines became the standard, and have continued to get worse. Medicines and surgeries have seen incredible advances in the last 50 years, yet the life expectancy has barely risen. The US life expectancy rose by 5 years between 1950 and 1980, over the course of 30 years. Between 1980 and 2024, the life expectancy has risen just 5 years, a total of 44 years, with the medical field advancing to incredible heights in that time, far more than it advanced from 1950 to 1980. The increase of 5 years since 1980 is mostly due to infant mortality being almost nonexistent in the US today, thanks to medial advancements. Again, if everything they’ve told us for 50 years now is true, where are the good results? How does the average 90+ year old have a 300 cholesterol level if cholesterol kills? Why have we not only not seen improvement, but actually seen the problem get far worse? I beg you all to think for yourselves about this.
